Create Job Description
Use your Customized Operations & Procedures Manual to create a clear & concise job description for the position you want to fill.

Write an Ad & Post It

  • Create the ad
    • Sample Ads in the downloads
    • Online application OR apply by sending resume to an email
    • Consider creating a separate email to collect and manage inquiries
  • Promote/advertise
    • Craigslist ($15-75 fee varies by area)
    • (30 day posting ($99-249)
    • (free/sponsor job
    • LinkedIn (post it in your feed for free)
    • LinkedIn Recruiter ($250-500 varies by location)
    • Local classifieds
    • Use one of the real estate eflyer services
    • Let your managers know – share the ad with them

Candidate Screening Process

  • Review and screen applications and resumes to decide on who meets threshold requirements for next step
  • Review and sort results of DISC based on needs for position
  • Send task/project email to selected applicants
  • Follow-up email to non-selectees
  • Make selections and call / email to schedule Phone Interview

Questions that violate the Civil Rights Act, Title VII (discrimination based on race, religion, citizenship)

  • What’s your native language?
  • What’s your religion?
  • What’s your racial group?
  • Do you take religious holidays off?

Questions that violate the Civil Rights Act, Title VII Pregnancy Discrimination Act

  • Are you married?
  • Do you have children?
  • Are you planning to get pregnant?
  • Are your childcare arrangements dependable?

Questions that violate the Americans with Disabilities Act

  • Do you have a disability?
  • Have you ever been treated for (illness)?
  • Have you ever had (illness)?
  • Are you using a wheelchair because of a permanent condition?
